Terugblik congres Kind en gezin in context: denken en handelen vanuit een sociaalpedagogisch perspectief

Op donderdagmiddag 20 november 2025 vond in Zwolle het congres Kind en gezin in context: denken en handelen vanuit een sociaalpedagogisch perspectief plaats. Dit congres was georganiseerd in samenwerking met onderzoeks- en netwerkgroep IncluZie.
Waarom dit congres?
Het Lectorenplatform staat voor een toekomst waarin jeugdigen in hun leefwereld (gezin, school, buurt, vrije tijd, online) gezond, veilig en kansrijk kunnen opgroeien. Hiervoor is samenwerking tussen kennis, praktijk en beleid cruciaal: wetenschappelijke kennis, ervaringskennis én praktijkkennis horen samen te komen.
Met het congres wilden we samen met IncluZie onderzoeken hoe die samenwerking er concreet uit kan zien, en hoe we vanuit een sociaalpedagogisch perspectief denken én handelen kunnen versterken.
Onder leiding van onze dagvoorzitters Sara Langeveld en Janneke Metselaar gingen onderzoekers, professionals, studenten, ouders, jongeren en beleidsmakers met elkaar in gesprek.

Een keynote van Eva Mulder over de beweging “zo thuis mogelijk opgroeien”:
Met aandacht voor kleinschalige woonvoorzieningen, het belang van thuiscontext, en hoe onderzoek kan bijdragen door kinderen, ouders én professionals een stem te geven.Een tweede lezing door Tijs Jambroes, kinder- en jeugdpsychiater:
Met reflecties op ontwikkelingen binnen jeugdzorg, (de)medicalisering en de rol van samenwerking tussen jeugdigen, ouders en professionals.Workshops over thema’s die middenin de missie van ons platform staan: een sterke pedagogische basis, normaliseren als norm, gelijkwaardige samenwerking, omgaan met spanning tussen regels en ruimte, inclusief denken en werken, en interventies baseren op wat écht werkt.
Een afsluitend panelgesprek met vertegenwoordigers vanuit jongerenperspectief, ouders, onderzoekers en praktijk over thema’s als labels en diagnosticeren, gelijkwaardigheid en vertrouwen.
De middag werd afsloten met een informele netwerkborrel: ruimte voor ontmoetingen, reflecties en nieuwe verbindingen.

Review theme of the meeting: Past, Present and future of the pedagogical base

On the morning of June 26, Marije Kesselring and Rogier Kattenberg, together with participants from practice, policy, research and education, explored the roots, current meaning and future of the concept pedagogical basis. The meeting took place within the framework of the lectureship youth and family and offered space for reflection, deepening and Exchange.
The pedagogical basis, a concept introduced in 2008 by Micha De Winter as ‘pedagogical civil society’, has since gained prominence in policy, practice and research. During the meeting, the central question was how this concept has developed, how it is understood in 2025 and what it means for the future of education and growing up.
Using theses, participants discussed topics such as the role of language, the limits of professionalism and the responsibilities of various stakeholders around the child. Concepts such as’ ordinary education‘,’ pedagogical community ‘and’ normalisation ' emerged as language that can give direction to policy and practice. At the same time, it was emphasized that there is often too little time and space to actually shape this pedagogical basis.
The tension between strengthening the pedagogical base and cuts in youth care was also discussed. The expectation that a strong pedagogical basis works preventively should not lead to the loss of necessary support for children who do need help. It should not be an Either-Or, but an and-and approximation.
Furthermore, it emerged that more and more attention is paid to this topic in the training of youth professionals. Not only in the form of knowledge transfer, but also in strengthening a basic attitude in which connection, closeness and trust are central.
Finally, we looked at opportunities for the future. What are the building blocks of a strong pedagogical Foundation? How do we engage parents, schools and local networks in an accessible way? And what can we learn from initiatives in other countries, despite the fact that translation and interpretation are not always easy?
The meeting provided valuable insights, inspiration and connection, exactly what is needed to continue to build a strong pedagogical foundation for all children together.

Using organizational science as a source of knowledge, Loes Houweling and Suzanne Rutz used metaphors to guide us through different types of organizations and how these organizations learn. We learned how the metaphors influenced our perspective on organizations and how this can be helpful in research. Discussions about the (interests of) different types of organizations, and the ongoing learning that is high on the agenda in the ever-changing youth domain, provided the participants with ample material for ongoing discussions within and between their organizations.

Like an arrow from a bow: 'innovating effectively together in the youth landscape'

On Wednesday 14 May, professor Inge Bastiaanssen of the participative innovation in the youth landscape (PIJL) lectured in a full room at Avans Hogeschool. All 120 visitors listened attentively to her speech entitled ‘Like an arrow from a bow: innovating effectively together in the youth landscape’. Inge calls on: “follow the lectorate arrow in the direction of effective innovation together in the youth landscape!”
